Jen Lew is entering her 9th season with the Bombers and was voted to be co-captain for our 2017 season. Jen started out as a bartender in a bar frequented by Bombers (later with a drink or two the team you want to meet) and ended up as Bombers Captain! Jen’s attack on the ball is one of the best in the competition and she is the type of the player that makes every bomber say “So glad Jen is on my team”. Jens played multiple games for NSW, was in the training squad for the GWS giants this year, and she’s won the teams ‘best and fairest’ more times than I can bothered to actually find out. So what’s Jen hoping to do in 2017?
Name : Jennifer Lew
Position: Centre Half Back/Midfield
When did you start playing footy? This will be my 9th Season! 2009!
What is your favourite part of footy? The camaraderie on and off the field. The friendship you make, which lead to hilarious stories, and consequently leads you to work for & protect each other on the field. Lets face it- I also enjoy the physical aspect of the game (love a good bump or tackle), the skill and the speed.
What are you hoping to achieve in 2017 on the field? On the field this year, Personally I am really looking to improve my skills- in particular my kicking accuracy! As a team member passing on any knowledge that I can to new team members…And leading the Bombers by example with my Co-Captain to another Premiership!
I want to hold up that cup!
What are you hoping to achieve in 2017 off the field? Looking to further my knowledge in health, treatment techniques and co-management of patients.
What do you do with your time outside of footy? A lot of time is taken up by footy!! I like to watch footy, study it.. possibly like to coach it in the future. Otherwise just hanging out with mates &/or my partner, looking for a good ole time and a laugh. Or a lounge about with a good movie.
Who’s your favourite player (male or female) and why? Male: Josh Kennedy (Swans)- His attack on the ball, his ability to get it out of the pack quickly, keeps his feet and he lifts the team when needed. Female: Chelsea Randall- Her ability to play anywhere on the field and make an impact.
