Steph “Stephy” Walker has become a Sydney Uni Institution since coming from the youth girls comp to play for Sydney Uni. As one of the first players in the competition to be able to bounce the ball convincingly it’s no surprise she bagged the 2014 Moysten Medal. Despite being out with a shoulder injury for much of 2016 she was drafted by the Giants for the Inaugural AFLW league. She just had a killer game against Carlton and so there is no better time to ‘get around her’.
Name: Stephanie Walker
When did you start playing footy? Year 12, I played at Drummoyne Power in their first youth girls team
What is your favourite part of footy? I like the physicality of the sport and that it doesn’t matter your size/height there is a position for you to play. The friendships you make in footy are amazing, as soon as you rock up to your first training session you have 30 new best mates.

What are you hoping to achieve in 2017 off the field? Encourage as many girls to either join a youth girls team or senior club.
What do you do with your time outside of footy? I’m a teacher’s aide at Pagewood Public School
Who’s your favourite player (male or female) and why? Brett Kirk, love the way he goes about his footy. If you want to read a book, go read his!
Do you have any new year’s resolutions for 2017? Not really, I’m just taking life as it comes and am going to take every opportunity that comes my way.
